Tactical Column : 2-1-2 Hour Glass Press

The primary purpose of your press must be to gain possession of the ball. You do this by applying the greatest amount of pressure on the ball while exposing your defensive team to the least amount of risk. Some teams will try to attack you with a 2-1-2, or 2-3 offensive set where they put one of their better ball handlers in the middle in an attempt to break your press down on a pass out of an initial full court press trap.
The 2-1-2 press allows you to more readily match-up with this type of press break off the inbounds pass and in some cases you can even play man to man on the inbounds to completely disguise this press defense. <more>
